Beverly Charles
IRegained Patient Volunteer
Hand movements after four years of stroke.
Beverly Charles shares her life changing journey here, post stroke. She says how extremely limited hand focussed therapy was provided to her by traditional manual exercises and she was told that she would never recover her function, as nobody does and she should accept it! Despite physical and massage therapy, her arm remained stiff and weak. With just 25-minute sessions, she began noticing small but meaningful changes — her arm felt less stiff, she could sleep more comfortably, and one day, she even managed to hold something without it slipping from her grasp. For Beverly, these moments were huge victories. She’s grateful to the IRegained team, not just for their guidance but for how they genuinely listen and care, making her feel supported every step of the way.
David Leblanc
IRegained Patient Volunteer
I can use a nail clipper.
Life changed drastically for David after suffering a stroke nearly seven years ago. Once an active person who loved staying busy, he struggled with even the simplest tasks — his hand was stiff, mobility was limited, and even a thumb brace couldn’t provide much help.
In those days, nothing much was available for hand therapy. David received some electrical stimulation which didn’t help..
Then came IRegained — and everything started to change. In just seven weeks, the improvements felt incredible. Simple yet powerful milestones like setting the table, unloading the dishwasher, and even gripping the steering wheel with ease brought a renewed sense of independence. But the most emotional moment? Successfully using a nail clipper — a seemingly small victory that felt like reaching the top of Mount Everest.
While David continues to work towards his full recovery, the progress made so far has already transformed his life, in his own words. As he puts it, "Everything has definitely improved - my finger function, my life!” — and that hope keeps him moving forward.
Dr. Michael Franklyn
IRegained Patient Volunteer
Saved by The MyHand® System.
After suffering a rare combination of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in 2018, Dr. Franklin faced significant challenges with his hand — his fingers were tightly clenched, and his wrist was bent inward. Despite extensive physiotherapy, progress was very slow to none.
Then Dr. Franklin started using the IRegained MyHand® device, and things began to change. Over approximately 50 sessions, his wrist relaxed, his fingers became less contracted, and his shoulder pain improved. The most remarkable change was gaining better control over his individual fingers — a breakthrough that brought newfound hope.
Dr. Franklin also praised the MyHand's improved design and engaging gamification, which kept him motivated during his intensive daily physiotherapy routine. For him, the MyHand® System has been a powerful tool in his recovery journey, combining science, engagement, and real results — making it a truly positive and encouraging experience
Byron
IRegained Patient Volunteer
Picked photography again in a long time.
When Byron first came to IRegained, he could barely move his thumb — just the smallest flicker of motion. He had never imagined he’d regain real function in his hand.
But seven months later, he could open and close his fingers — something he once believed was impossible. It felt like a miracle to him. Byron had given up hope, thought he had lost his hand forever, yet here he, in his own words is saying, he kept improving, kept discovering new abilities.
The most meaningful moment? Being able to hold his camera again. Photography has always been his passion, and getting that back has filled his life with joy. Every click of the shutter reminded him that progress is possible — and that hope is powerful.
